Starting school year 2025/2026!
The three pillars of the PYP curriculum framework
-
The learner
Describes the outcomes for individual students and the outcomes they seek for themselves - what is learning?
-
Learning and teaching
Articulates the distinctive features of learning and teaching - how best to support learners?
-
The learning community
Emphasizes the importance of the social outcomes of learning and the role that IB communities play in achieving these outcomes - who facilitates learning and teaching?
Primary school at Bodø International School
The learning programme at Bodø International School (BOINT) is designed to engage students in learning that is relevant, challenging, and significant. While we are not yet an authorized International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, we will apply for candidacy status for the Primary Years Programme (PYP) upon opening.
Our philosophy and approach are closely aligned with the principles of IB, including guided inquiry, the development of globally significant conceptual understandings, collaborative learning, differentiation, and assessment for learning. From the beginning, we aim to implement a curriculum that reflects these principles, providing our students with an educational experience that prepares them for future IB programmes and a globalized world.
Guided inquiry is central to our learning approach. It enables students to integrate information across traditional subject areas and apply their knowledge in meaningful and practical ways. Our focus is on developing students’ ability to use their learning in new situations. Through guided inquiry, students and teachers collaborate to identify questions related to a unit of inquiry, working together to answer them. This process concludes with the communication, reflection, and application of newly acquired understandings and skills.
Although we are not yet an IB school, our commitment to delivering a high-quality, inquiry-based education is unwavering. We strive to create a learning environment that inspires curiosity, critical thinking, and a passion for lifelong learning.
